Peacock Is Riding the Winter Olympics Straight to 100 Million Downloads

Peacock, NBC Universal's streaming app, is just days away from crossing 100 million downloads. And the Winter Olympics are pushing it there faster than anyone expected.

I looked at Peacock back in November when it was quietly climbing the streaming ranks. Back then, the story was about an underdog finding its footing. But a lot has changed since, and the numbers tell a much bigger story now.

The Olympics Effect

The 2026 Winter Olympics kicked off in early February, and Peacock's downloads exploded. According to Appfigures Intelligence, daily downloads jumped from around 44K to nearly 200K on opening weekend. That's nearly a 5x spike overnight.

Through the first three weeks of February, Peacock has already seen 1.9 million downloads, according to our estimates. For context, all of February 2025 brought in 826K. That's more than double, and the month isn't over yet.

This isn't Peacock's first Olympics rodeo. The 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris drove 2.9 million downloads in July alone. NBC knows exactly what it's doing here. Sports drive downloads.

But Here's the Real Story

Downloads are great, but they're not what I want you to focus on. Revenue is.

According to our App Intelligence, Peacock's net revenue has nearly doubled in two years. In January 2024, the app brought in $34 million of net revenue. By January 2026, that number hit $63 million. That's 86% growth, and net means what NBC gets to keep after store fees.

We estimate Peacock generated $674 million in net revenue in 2025, up from $466 million in 2024. That's a 44% jump year over year.

Meanwhile, at Disney...

While Peacock's revenue is climbing, Disney's streaming apps are headed the other way.

Disney+ brought in roughly $1.4 billion of net revenue in both 2024 and 2025, according to Appfigures Intelligence. The growth engine has stalled.

Hulu isn't doing great either. Net revenue dropped from an estimated $413 million in 2024 to $322 million in 2025. That's a 22% decline year over year.

What's Next

Peacock will cross 100 million downloads any day now. That's a big milestone for an app that saw just 900K downloads in January 2025.

But the milestone that matters more is the revenue trajectory. At the current pace, Peacock is on track to hit $800 million in net revenue for 2026. That's still behind Disney+ and Max, but the gap is closing fast.

I'll keep watching this one. And if you think Peacock's growth is impressive, wait until you see what another "smaller" streamer has been doing. More on that soon.
